Enzian Theater: 13 Cocktails of Halloween

Every October, the Enzian presents their 13 Films of Halloween, each with film with their own horror-inspired cocktail. And every year for the past 5 years, I have been given the opportunity to take photos of their horror-ific concoction. And every year I always try to raise the bars and top the year before.

I am no stranger to horror but I would definitely not call myself a horror expert. That’s why I for the past 3 years, I brought my really good friend, an amazing SFX artist and horror fanatic, Mari McGaha into the mix. Our goal was always to feed into the fandom with each respected horror film and present the cocktails in a way that really honored the film that it was inspired by.

Shooting 13 cocktails within a 2-hour time span, with quick SFX & individual unique set design is no easy feat, and every year I am always surprised how much we are able to accomplish. Of course, to say I did this alone would definitely constitute me as a pathological liar. Mari, John (another good friend and fantastic hand model), and the rest of the Enzian/Eden Bar Team are what made the dream work, or should I say is what made the nightmare work.

This annual project is always an amazing challenge and learning experience. Taking limited resources, limited time, practical effects knowledge, and a whole lot of creative problem solving, this project definitely pushed the boundaries for the studio.
