HAIR - RENAISSANCE THEATRE

What is it to be American? Is it not to seek freedom to be who we truly are?

I had the honor of capturing the portraits of the cast at Renaissance Theatre for their first run of the musical, Hair.

Although this piece was originally a protest against the conscription of the Vietnam War, its relevance to modern day is uncanny. Adonis Perez-Escobar is the director of this powerful show, and as a gay Latin American, he used the Renaissance Theatre stage as a protest against the bigotry and discrimination we are now facing in current America. The performance is fearless, empowering, and brings hope to the current climate. As you watch the show, you’re presented with such powerful performances and heart-reaching voices, all the while being surrounded by others who are fighting for us to be truly free.
