Ice Princess - Spring
Ashana came to me with this idea in 2023, and it remained in the ether, brewing and evolving.
It is a story of a girl who froze her perfect world in time, preserving everything that she loved. The world outside of her window is irrelevant; all that matters is the man sitting across the table. Nothing is ever to change, cause this pocket of time is as perfect as it can ever be.
This story tells of obsession, stagnation, and the fear of change.
It was amazing to see how this idea came to fruition. From the snow, SFX, wardrobe, and lighting, you could see the hard work of everyone involved in bringing the story to life.
When approaching this project, I emphasized light, specifically the light coming from the outside world. The main character always faced away from any lights that came from a window, right until she realized that her world began melting. The most powerful image from the series is the final frame, where she finally turns her head towards the window, the light being warmer than when she woke up.
